S-league Preview

Last Preview - Got 3 right and 4 wrong

Geylang United vs SAFFC
One of the Warriors main problem this season is they can no longer overwhelm teams for just look at who their top scorer is. It is Indra and I am not insulting him as he still remain a good player but he is no longer the 25-goal man. His target is now a more realistic 10 to 15 goal for in the last 4 years he has only reached double figure just once. That is a big problem as championship challengers need a 25-goal man to put the opposition on the back foot. Richard Bok will need to fix that and find one oversea (or snatch Peter Tomko from Eagles) for next season as no doubt it is too late for the current one. The Eagles have a striker who can achieve that and they should get the goals to win this one. 2-1 to the Eagles.

Etoile FC vs Home United
Assistant Lee is still in charge so Home United have no hope just like when they faced the Cubs last week in the RHB Singapore Cup and every other game in the Great Eastern-Yeo's S-league campaign. 3-0 to Etoile FC

Albirex Niigata (S) vs Balestier Khalsa
It must be the Tigers. Their confidence is sky-high after the Singapore Cup win against the on-form Eagles and they are playing well. The White Swans on the other hand are staggering this season and their youngsters have shown they cannot handle the better-equipped teams in this league and the Tigers are one of them. 3-1 to the Tigers

Young Lions vs Tampines Rovers
The Stags must be hoping top scorer Qiu Li return for this one as they need his goals for the Singaporean international have been extraordinary this season. It is important as French side Etoile is still on the heel of the Stags in the title race and the Cubs can be a banana peel for the leaders. At home, the Cubs are always a threat and can never be underestimated. Just asked Home United and SAFFC. 2-2 draw (If without Qiu Li)

SAFFC vs Gombak United
The Bulls always do well against teams who are top of their game but the Warriors are not top of their game now. But seriously, the Warriors will have new recruit Ivan Jerkovic for this one and maybe he can spur the Champions to win this one. The Bulls are now too over-reliance on Agu to lead their attack. Once he is out, they lacked that sting and this match is played at Jalan Besar so it will be a strain on Agu knee; which we can see in the Singapore Cup match against the South Melbourne. Agu is still at least a month or two away from full fitness and the Bulls are going to suffer until then. 2-1 to SAFFC

Geylang United vs Etoile FC
The Eagles are always a tough foe and at this moment in time they are best avoided as they are doing so brilliantly well. But the fixture was fixed long ago and Etoile FC have a tough one on their hand. The French need to make full use of the chances they constantly misses against other sides as the Eagles are not a generous side. Can they do it? My view is Nah. 1-1 draw.

Sengkang Punggol vs Woodlands Wellington
It is going to be a while before either side get a better chance to win a match and who should one trust more. I will go with Woodlands Wellington as when you have a striker like Abdelhadi Laakkad, you will get goals and to win, one need goals. The Dolphins do not have the same inspiration. 1-0 to the Rams

Tampines Rovers vs Beijing Gouan (S)
This match belong to the Stags as the Chinese side will find themselves over-matched. The Stags have this match in the bag and they have too much experience to, surely, throw this one away so 3 points to the home team. 3-0 to Stags
